3 Things All Sports Uniforms Should Do

No matter what sport your team plays, your sports uniforms need to do these 3 things.

Some coaches and athletic directors buy sports uniforms based solely on what looks coolest. Sure, looks are important, but they’re not good enough if your sports uniforms can’t also do these 3 things:

1. Match the weather you’re playing in
If your all of your little leaguers’ games are in the middle of the summer, you need youth baseball uniforms that are going to “breathe”. After all, the last thing you want is your players overheating because their uniforms are too heavy!
But if your high school football team usually winds up playing a couple of games in the snow, football jerseys made out of bare-bones mesh aren’t going to cut it. After all, cold athletes don’t score very many touchdowns! Instead, you’ll need to look for a fabric that’s thick enough to withstand whatever frigid temperatures Mother Nature throws at it.
If your sports season spans a couple of different weather seasons, look into getting uniforms with removable panels. They’re thin enough not to restrict your players in any way — but thick enough to keep them warm when the mercury dips.

2. Withstand the rigors of the game
The convenience of having reversible basketball jerseys really doesn’t do you any good if they rip or snag every time there’s a scuffle in the paint.
Or, if your team’s football jerseys can’t withstand grabbing, tackling, and being stuck at the bottom of the pile, they’re not worth the money you’ve spent on them. How many jerseys will your team go through in a season? Can you really afford to have 4 or 5 football jerseys on hand for every guy on the team?
The same goes for baseball — even though it’s not nearly as violent as football. But if your youth baseball uniforms can’t handle a hard slide into second base or a diving catch in the outfield, they’re a complete waste.

3. Save you money
Since you don’t have the budget of a professional sports team, you’ve got to come up with a way to make your athletes look good — without spending an arm and a leg. Luckily, it’s not impossible to find sports uniforms that give you great bang for your buck.
Just take a look at reversible basketball jerseys. With them, you can get your home and away jerseys in one — without spending double the money! That way, you can take the money you save and spend it on something else (like better weights or the end-of-season team banquet).
