Why Pushups are Awesome

Written by Paleo Forever

For those of us who are intimidated by heavy-duty fitness, push-ups are the epitome of dread. But, this week, I’m going to show you why they are awesome, and how not to hate them or even fear them.

Believe me, 1 year ago – I HATED push-ups. HATED. Them. But, they were part of one of my favorite DVD’s. And, I admit, when I first started doing the DVD, I’d skip the push-up part. But, then one day, I got brave somehow. I tried one.
I failed. Miserably.

But, not being someone that likes things to get the better of me, I tried again. This time, I modified the push-up and I was able to actually do them. I stuck with it, and now, I actually love and adore push-ups. And, as some of my clients know (and you know who you are 😉 ), they are effective, and they can be a great gauge to how fit you’re becoming.

Push-ups are fabulous no-equipment-needed exercise. They are great for your upper body, and if you hold your belly button toward your spine, it incorporates some work for your abs. And, if you do them on your toes, you’re incorporating leg muscles as well.
This week’s workout of the week is all about the push-upYou don’t have to drop to the floor on hands and toes and give me 20. You can actually start on the wall, progress to your knees, and then progress to your toes when you’re ready.

Add 3 sets of 10 reps of whatever push-up ya fancy to your cardio routine this week. Enjoy!
